Wang Chuqin Faces Elite Pressure at WTT Champions Macao 2026

World table tennis action is heading back to the Asian stage as WTT Champions Macao 2026 takes over the Infinity Arena at the Macao East Asian Games Dome from 8 to 13 September, bringing together the absolute elite of the sport for six days of full-throttle action.

At the center of the spotlight is China's star player, Wang Chuqin, who enters the tournament with clear ambitions to defend his crown from last year, when he defeated Brazil's Hugo Calderano 4:0 in the final.

However, the path to the trophy will not be easy. Calderano arrives in Macao carrying the momentum and self-confidence of a recent title win at WTT Star Contender São José dos Campos 2026, looking for ultimate revenge.

The men's singles draw promises serious sparks. Alongside Wang and Calderano, the lineup features young Japanese talent Sora Matsushima (who shined brightly at the United States Smash 2026), his compatriot Tomokazu Harimoto, French standout Felix Lebrun and his brother Alexis Lebrun, Truls Moregard, and Lin Shidong.

In the women's event, the stakes are equally high and the intrigue is massive. All eyes are on local favorite Zhu Yuling as she targets another brilliant run on home soil following her previous triumphs. She is joined by teenage sensation Miwa Harimoto—the youngest player ever to win a title at this level.

Fierce competition from Kuai Man, Chen Xingtong, Wang Yidi, and the in-form Hina Hayata ensures that the women's draw will be an absolute minefield.

General tickets for WTT Champions Macao 2026 officially launch today, 31 July, at 7 PM (GMT+8), setting the stage for an unforgettable week of world-class table tennis.
